It doesn’t have to be this way.
Impact from health complications due to lack of proper hydration is hard to even estimate. Imagine not having enough water to drink; imagine not knowing if the water you had to drank would make you sick or not. Imagine what that would be like. It is a daily reality for the women and children in the refugee camps.
Water is the most basic of human needs. It is fundamental to life. We take water for granted in the developed world. We walk to the sink, turn on the faucet and out comes the water. We just know that water will be there. Imagine you turned on the faucet one day and nothing came out…all day long. Did you know that 1.8 billion people do not have running water in the home? Imagine how different your life would be if you did not have water to drink or wash with. The vast majority of the people without running water don’t know if the water they are able to access will make them sick or not. In developing countries almost 80% of illness is water related. Unsafe water creates high risk for a host of diarrheal and other diseases as well as chemical intoxication. Unsanitary water has particularly devastating effects on young children in the develop-ing world. Each year, 2 million people, mostly children less than 5 years of age, die of diarrheal disease.
Dear IonWays Family,
As a water industry professional, I have been invited to join the Healing Bridges Foundation, www.healingbridges.org on a humanitarian mission to the refugee camps in Kassala, Sudan. I have a vision to help; you can join with me to make my vision a reality.
The Kassala refugee camps are a result of almost 40 years of devastating war between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Because of the war Eritrea has lost almost 80% of its men. The women of Eritrea are poverty stricken and in dire need in so many
ways. The UN identifies them as the “forgotten Eritrean refugees”. These women bear an unjust and staggering burden to provide the basic necessities for themselves and their children. The women struggle to feed and educate their kids, often choosing between food or education for their little ones.

Many of the people fleeing the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea are still in the camps 40 years later. More arrive daily because of the ongoing war. About 200,000 live in the camps today. The conditions are horrifying. A family gets a pound of rice a day to live on and often does not know where safe drinking water will come from. They have little hope.

The United States currently ranks last among the 22 member countries of the Development Assistance Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in
net assistance provided to developing countries, when such assistance is measured as a percentage of gross national income. We can do better than this! We have more than enough wealth to ensure that no one ever goes without water. Ever. We have the means to ensure that the water they drink will not kill them.

We have been blessed by water - having been given the opportunity to market and share the healthiest water available. We fully understand the importance of good water to health. There are so many worthy causes to support in the world today. Being in the healthy water business shouldn’t we take a stand? Let’s come together and help the women and children of the refugee camps by drilling wells.
With your help we can pass our blessings on. Your tax deductible donation will help drill wells that will change lives. Each well costs $12,000 to $15,000.

Drilling in the arid Sudan is expensive, but one well will supply Eritrean families in the refugee camps with priceless clean water. Please help us drill wells for the Eritrean women and children in the refugee camps of Kassala who so desperately need water. Please help give them hope. Consider your blessings the next
time you get a
drink. Then think
of the mother or child
in the refugee camp
who has no water.
Help us help
Healing Bridges
change this.

Please take a moment to consider what life would really be like if you had no certainty about your water. Please consider that your financial assistance can truly help in this humanitarian mission! No gift is too small – even five dollars will make a difference. Please donate now. We have made it easy to donate.* In less than three minutes you can help change their lives.

Go to www.water4healingbridges.org and give clean water to the women and children of the Kassala refugee camps! Thank you for caring!
